Terms of service

These terms apply when you play on Saltbox (play.saltbox.gg), use this website, or take part in the Saltbox Discord. By connecting you agree to them and to the rules. If you are under 13, a parent or guardian needs to be fine with you playing here; see the privacy policy for what that means in practice.

Your account

• You play with your own Minecraft account (Java) or Microsoft account (Bedrock). You are responsible for what is done on it. Sharing an account, or playing on one that is not yours, can get both accounts removed.
• One person, one main account. Alt accounts are allowed for play, not for evading a punishment, farming votes or rewards, or taking part in the same event twice.
• Your in-game name is public. It appears in chat, on leaderboards, in the public ban log if you are banned, and on the vote page. Staff can hide a player from leaderboards on request.

Fair play

• The rules are part of these terms. Cheat clients, exploits, lag machines, griefing inside the Safe Zone and insiding lead to rollbacks and bans, as the rules say.
• No real-money trading. Selling or buying accounts, Salt, Crystals, Relics, items or claims for real money, or for anything of value outside the game, is not allowed. Items involved can be removed and accounts banned.
• No automation that plays for you. Bots, macros that keep you active, auto-clickers and anything that farms Crystals or event rewards while you are not really playing are not allowed.

Purchases

• Everything in the store is cosmetic or convenience; nothing gives a gameplay advantage, and in-game money is never sold. Prices and what you get are shown before you buy.
• Purchases are handled by Tebex, the merchant of record. Tebex’s terms, refund rules and purchase history apply to every order. Chargebacks on delivered items can lead to the items being removed and the account suspended.
• A purchase is a licence to use the item on Saltbox while the server runs and while your account is in good standing. It is not transferable and has no cash value.

Moderation

• Staff can mute, kick, roll back, restrict or ban an account to enforce the rules. Long bans and every appeal decision are made by a person, not by automation alone.
• Staff may read private messages when they are checking a report that involves them.
• Every ban can be appealed; see appeals. We answer within 72 hours.
• Bans and their outcomes (active, expired, appealed, overturned) are listed on the public ban log by player name and category. No private details are published.

Content

• Builds, chat and anything else you create on the server stay yours, and you give Saltbox permission to keep them on the server, show them to other players, and use screenshots or recordings of them in Saltbox’s own announcements and videos.
• Do not upload or post anything you do not have the right to share, anything that targets other players, or anything not suitable for an all-ages community.

The server and this website

• Saltbox is run as a hobby by a small team. There is no promise of uptime, of keeping a world, item or balance, or of running forever. Worlds other than the main one may reset between seasons; the main world and your base do not.
• The website shows live data from the game (player counts, leaderboards, votes, bans). Numbers can lag the game by a few minutes.
• Saltbox may change these terms. The date at the top is the last change; a material change is announced in Discord and in game before it takes effect.
